Industry Insights-SIAM 66th Annual Convention 2026
Reflections on the Future of Indian Automotive Mobility

The Indian automotive industry is entering a defining phase—one shaped by artificial intelligence, sustainable mobility, digital transformation, global competitiveness and increasingly connected customer experiences.
The 66th SIAM Annual Convention, held on 3 September 2026 at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi, brought together leaders and stakeholders from across the automotive ecosystem to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping India’s mobility future.
Cloudely was pleased to participate in this important industry forum, with Suren Reddy Katta, CEO & Co-Founder, Cloudely, engaging with automotive leaders and exchanging perspectives on how technology can contribute to the next phase of industry growth.
A Convention Focused on the Future
The SIAM Annual Convention went beyond discussions about the current state of the automobile industry. Its sessions explored some of the most important questions facing automotive leaders today:
- How can India build a more sustainable mobility ecosystem?
- How can AI transform the automotive value chain?
- How can Indian companies strengthen global competitiveness?
- How can the industry build greater resilience?
- How can technology support India’s ambition to become a global automotive leader?
These discussions reinforce a larger reality: the future of automotive will be shaped not only by vehicles and manufacturing, but also by technology, data, intelligence and collaboration.
AI Is Moving Across the Automotive Value Chain
One of the key themes at the convention was the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence across the automotive value chain.
SIAM’s Special Plenary Session 2 focused specifically on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Across the Automotive Value Chain: Global Learnings.” The discussion examined AI’s impact on areas including product development, manufacturing and customer experience.
This is an important shift. AI is no longer limited to experimentation or isolated use cases. It is increasingly becoming part of how automotive organisations think about:
Flow: Product Development → Manufacturing → Sales → Customer Experience → After-Sales
For automotive organisations, the opportunity is to identify where AI can move beyond automation and help people make faster, better and more informed decisions.
Customer Experience Is Becoming a Technology Opportunity
The automotive customer journey has changed significantly.
A customer may discover a vehicle through digital advertising, research models online, interact through WhatsApp, contact a dealership, request a test drive, compare finance options and eventually purchase the vehicle.
Each interaction creates valuable information. The challenge is connecting these interactions into a meaningful customer journey.
This is where CRM, data platforms, AI and automation can play an increasingly important role.
Instead of simply storing customer information, technology can help organisations understand:
Who is the customer?
What are they interested in?
What is their buying intent?
What should happen next?
How can the organisation deliver a more relevant experience?
For Cloudely, this represents an important area of opportunity—helping automotive organisations connect data, engage customers and turn information into actionable business outcomes.
Sustainable Mobility Remains a Strategic Priority
Sustainability was another major theme of the convention.
SIAM’s Special Plenary Session 1, “Driving Global Leadership in Sustainable Mobility,” explored India’s roadmap toward becoming a global leader in sustainable mobility by 2047. Discussions highlighted cleaner fuels, electric mobility, biofuels, green hydrogen, charging infrastructure and the development of India’s export ecosystem.
The transition to sustainable mobility is not simply a technology transition. It requires collaboration across:
Collaboration: Manufacturers + Government + Technology + Infrastructure + Energy + Consumers
Digital technologies can support this transformation by helping organisations connect information, improve operational visibility and create more intelligent customer and business processes.
Building a Resilient Automotive Ecosystem
Another important theme was resilience.
SIAM’s Special Plenary Session 3 focused on “Building a Resilient Auto Industry Ecosystem for India.” The discussion highlighted the importance of technology, investment, components, talent, customers and international partnerships in building a stronger and more globally competitive automotive ecosystem.
For automotive businesses, resilience increasingly means having the ability to:
- Adapt quickly to market changes
- Make decisions using reliable data
- Connect different business systems
- Respond to changing customer expectations
- Build flexible digital processes
- Leverage technology across the organisation
Technology therefore becomes more than an IT investment. It becomes part of organisational resilience.
India’s Automotive Opportunity Is Becoming Global
The convention also looked at India’s opportunity in the changing global automotive landscape.
The valedictory session, “Changing Global Dynamics: Leveraging Opportunities,” focused on strengthening India’s competitiveness and expanding the country’s global automotive footprint.
The message is significant for automotive businesses in India. India is not only a large automotive market. It is increasingly positioned as an important participant in the global mobility and manufacturing ecosystem.
That creates opportunities for Indian organisations across manufacturing, components, technology, exports and digital services.
What This Means for Automotive Technology
The conversations at SIAM reinforce an important technology shift.
Automotive organisations need to move from fragmented systems and disconnected information toward connected digital ecosystems.
A modern automotive organisation may need to connect:
Connected model: Customer Data → CRM → AI & Analytics → Sales & Marketing → Dealer Operations → Finance → After-Sales Engagement
The value comes not from any single technology. It comes from connecting these capabilities to create better decisions and better experiences.
From Data to Intelligence
This is particularly relevant to customer-facing automotive operations.
A dealership may already have thousands of customer records. But data alone does not tell a salesperson:
Sales intelligence can help answer that question.
AI can potentially analyse customer interactions, engagement signals, enquiry history and other available information to help identify:
Which customer should I call first?
- High-potential opportunities
- Customer intent
- Lead priority
- Recommended next actions
- Relevant conversation points
- Follow-up requirements
Data → Intelligence → Action → Outcome
For automotive businesses looking to improve customer engagement and sales performance, this shift can become an important competitive advantage.
Cloudely’s Perspective
At Cloudely, we believe the next generation of automotive transformation will be driven by the convergence of CRM, AI, automation, data and connected customer experiences.
Our participation at SIAM 2026 provided an opportunity to connect with industry leaders, understand emerging priorities and exchange perspectives on the role technology can play in India’s automotive transformation.
The conversations reinforced several areas that we see as increasingly important:
Connected Data
Bringing customer and business information together to create better visibility.
Intelligent Decision-Making
Using AI to help teams prioritise opportunities and make faster decisions.
Connected Customer Experiences
Creating consistent experiences across digital and physical touchpoints.
Automation
Reducing manual processes and allowing teams to focus on higher-value activities.
Sustainable Growth
Using technology to improve efficiency while supporting broader business and industry objectives.
Looking Ahead
The SIAM 66th Annual Convention demonstrated that India’s automotive transformation is about much more than the next generation of vehicles.
It is about building an ecosystem that is:
Smarter. More sustainable. More connected. More resilient. More globally competitive.
AI will play an increasingly important role. Digital platforms will become more connected. Customer expectations will continue to evolve. And organisations that can turn data into intelligence—and intelligence into action—will be better positioned to respond to the future.
For Cloudely, the SIAM convention was an opportunity not just to participate, but to listen, learn, connect and contribute to the conversation around the future of mobility.
The future of automotive is connected.
Connected data. Connected people. Connected experiences. Connected intelligence.
And the next chapter of India’s automotive journey is already underway.
